Bad news for all of us: 96 percent of entrees at America’s most popular chain restaurants will make you fat.
“Almost none of the menu items we looked at met the USDA recommendations,” Helen Wu, the [Rand Corporation] study’s primary author, told The Daily. “And the real shocker was sodium.”
Wu studied the nutritional information provided by sit-down chains like Denny’s and Chili’s, and found that family-style eateries often served less healthy food than their fast-food rivals. On average, entries at family-style restaurants had 271 more calories, 16 more grams of fat and a whopping 435 more milligrams of sodium than did fast-food chains.
